Blizzard revealed two more teams participating in its upcoming OverwatchLeague: one team representing London and cartoon sex videoa second team representing Los Angeles.
Today's reveal brings the total number of confirmed teams in the OverwatchLeague to nine and introduces the first team representing a city in Europe. It also shows that, just like the NBA and MLB, more than one team can be based in a single city.
SEE ALSO: Everything you need to know about Blizzard's 'Overwatch' LeagueThe owner of the London team is Jack Etienne, co-founder and CEO of the esports team organization Cloud9, with successful teams in League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Overwatch, and players in fighting games. Most Cloud9 teams and players are billed out of the U.S., so Etienne's purchase of the London spot is a bit of a departure from the organization's North American beginnings.
The owners of the second Los Angeles team are Stan and Josh Kroenke, a father/son duo who between them own (or work at the top level with) several traditional sports teams including the Denver Nuggets, the Los Angeles Rams, the Colorado Avalanche, and Arsenal Football Club.
Owners of the first seven cities announced in July -- Boston, Los Angeles, Miami-Orlando, New York City, San Francisco, Seoul, and Shanghai -- stem from a similar mix of esports and traditional sports team organizations. No teams have been announced in Australia or Africa.
The OverwatchLeague isn't kicking off until later this year, likely in November or December considering player signings end in late October, so there is still time for more teams to join the league.
Information about team names, rosters, and an official OverwatchLeague schedule will be coming later this year.
