We knew Tesla's battery-producing Gigafactory was enormous. But now,Portugal we have a better idea of just how expansive the new facility is.
SEE ALSO: Elon Musk just gave us our first real look at the Tesla Model 3New aerial images posted to Instagram by Eva Kaplann show the sprawling Gigafactory in all its glory, surrounded by the desert in Sparks, Nevada.
While we've seen aerial shots of the grounds in the past, these new images — taken by Kaplann during a flight to Reno — offer a fresh perspective of the facilities that look more like a small town than a single factory.
The Gigafactory, which officially opened in January, is where Tesla manufacturers the batteries for its cars, including the upcoming Model 3, as well as its energy storage products like the Solar Roof and Powerwall.
Though much of the work done in the factory is ultimately completed by robots, Tesla said as many as 6,500 people could work in the Gigafactory by the end of 2019. And with the first production Model 3 officially complete, we're guessing things are going to get busy there very soon.
