While being sworn into office on Watch Mound DaughterTuesday, San Jose councilman Lan Diep unleashed his inner comic book geek when he chose to hold Captain America's shield instead of a Bible as he was sworn into office.

After the ceremony, Diep told NBC Bay Area that "I think Captain America represents...embodies the ideals of America. And those are the kind of things I’m hoping to strive for: Equal justice, fair play, and, democracy.”
I think Captain Rogers would be very proud of Councilman Diep. Maybe they can fight crime together one day.
