Nothing screams Thanksgiving like a deep-fryer fire and Dear Utol (2025): Fake Orgasm Episode 44a charred turkey. We're not talking a little smoke either. There are people out there whose fryers and ovens have been engulfed in flames on the biggest food holiday of the year.
If you're looking for reasons to be grateful this Thanksgiving, just be thankful if your turkey makes it to the carving board. I say this because there are a lot of people on the internet with video evidence of Thanksgiving meals taking a fiery turn for the worse.

This deep-fryer exploded into a fury of flames when two men attempted to submerge their turkey. Also, where the hell are this guy's shoes?
There's so much happening in this video that it warrants at least 5 to 10 re-watches. But basically all you need to know is that there's a lot of screaming, a turkey sent to its fiery grave, and an oven that just won't quit spewing flames.
I think we need to start issuing licenses allowing only certified people to purchase and use giant deep fryers. How many more turkeys need to be ruined before people learn how to do it right? At least in this video, there's a pool nearby in case things get too out of hand. (Though, obviously you should never put out a grease fire using water.)
It's like these people knew something was going to go wrong. In the clip, everyone watches in awe as a turkey's submerged in a deep fryer. That awe turns to panic when entire thing turns into a massive tower of flames. Oops!
How long did it take for these people to realize that something was up with the turkey? At least the fire itself was somewhat contained, but RIP their Thanksgiving meal.
What's painful about this video is how the actual turkey itself was cooked to perfection. It looked great and it probably smelled even better. But as the man in the video takes it out of the oven, he realizes that the pan they cooked it in is way too full of grease.
It only took a small amount of grease to start a fire. Luckily, everything seems to turn out just fine in the end.
There are clearly people out there in need of some actual instructions on deep frying a whole turkey. This video from the Boise Fire Department warns people about the dangers of deep frying your bird improperly and what you can do to protect yourself.
A few things to take away from this: don't over-fill the fryer with oil and never fry an unthawed frozen turkey.
