Sure GIFs are sex with sleeping woman videoseverywhere on the internet, but how popular are your favorite animations really?
Now, thanks to GIPHY's newest feature, you'll be able to see just that.
GIPHY announced in a blog post on Monday that the site is adding a view counter so users can tell just how many times people have watched James Harden throw serious shade (spoiler alert: over 57 million times) and other popular GIFs.
Via GiphySEE ALSO: Let these silly 'Game of Thrones' GIFs soothe your battered soulAccording to the press release, GIPHY users can see view counts for every GIF from an official artist or partner. And regardless of how many times the GIF loops, every time you see a GIF, GIPHY counts it as a view.
The update also allows people to see how many GIFs are available on an official artist or partner’s channel, along with the channel's cumulative GIF view count.
Via GiphyAside from allowing everyone to see how much time is wasted watching GIFs, the view counter will allow GIPHY to better follow trends, including the most popular memes or the memorable momentsfrom pop culture or television shows like Game of Thrones.
That means you'll now be able to see just how popular a GIF is before sending it — allowing you to keep up with the internet's favorite memes or take the GIF road less travelled.
And of course, the feature gives people great conversation starters, such as, "Hey, did you know over 41 million people watched that GIF of Lady Gaga jumping into the Super Bowl? Haha I know crazy, right?"
Via GiphySo go forth, try out the view counter, and see if your favorite GIFs have what it takes to be on top of the GIPHY game.
