People might like Threads. Or,Mister, Do It With Me, Not With Mom at least, they're willing to sign up for it — and use it.
Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram and Threads, posted on Sunday night that Threads had reached 275 million monthly active users.
"A big thank you to everyone who’s helped us get this far. There’s a lot more to do, and plenty of things to fix, but there’s something exciting about this place. 🙏🏼," he posted.
Threads was launched last summer as people were fleeing Twitter in an exodus when Elon Musk bought the platform and rebranded it as X.
While Threads is seen as a Twitter/X replacement, the use cases aren't identical — and the numbers are pretty stark. In comparison, Musk, who owns X, posted in May that X has "600 million monthly active users, about half of which use the platform every day." It's unclear how true that is, and a report from the Financial Timesshows that fewer people have used Musk's platform since he took control. Threads, on the other hand, has reportedly been rapidly growing.
