Pumpkin spice season is Affair With A 20 Year Old Female Studentupon us, and the food industry is already starting to unleash its wrath of candle-scented products for our autumnal consumption.
Including pumpkin spice-flavored Spam.
The concoction will only be available for purchase on Spam.com and Walmart.com starting Sept. 23, but the brave souls at the Daily Meal did the world a favor and tried it out early. In a thorough review, they noted that the signature pumpkin spice scent "only intensified" as the vaguely meat product fried on a stovetop.
The verdict: Pumpkin spice Spam, as cursed as it sounds, isn't that bad.
Although this is one of the more peculiar pumpkin spice products on the market, surprisingly, the general consensus was that the flavor really wasn’t bad. It certainly had that soft texture that anyone who’s had Spam will be familiar with, as well as the expected salty, porky Spam flavor. Cinnamon, clove, allspice and nutmeg shared center stage with the rich and savory Spam flavor, however, along with a hint of sweetness.
Tasters said they could see the product pairing well with breakfast dishes like waffles or in a nice egg scramble.
The company teased the idea of pumpkin spice Spam in 2017, but the jokey Facebook post was met with horror and disgust.
"Goes great with spearmint bacon and lemon eggs," one Facebook user commented.
The pumpkin spice Spam will only be available for purchase online this fall, right in time for sweater weather.
