Every Google Chrome user knows that,Netherlands once you open a certain number of tabs — say, four — no amount of RAM will save your computer from slowing down. Chrome will just eat up more and more RAM until everything grinds to a halt.
But what if you had a Mac Pro, decked out with an insane 1.5TB of RAM, and then you opened up 6,000 Chrome tabs to see what will happen? YouTuber Jonathan Morrison tried exactly that, and the results are in the video below.
I'm not going to spoil it for you, as it's a pretty fun (if a bit nerdy) watch. Suffice to say that it's absolutely insane to see this much RAM being used and so many websites being open at the same time on a single machine — one you can easily buy yourself (if you have loads of cash, that is).
Towards the end of the video, Morrison gives us a couple more examples of how one can use all that extra RAM for a better purpose. Obviously, such a machine is not for everyone; I'd say that only a tiny fraction of IT professionals need it. But after seeing the video, I'm starting to save money for a Mac Pro and 1.5TB of RAM. I may never get there, but it's the journey that counts, not the destination.
