LOS ANGELES -- Vin Diesel congratulated team Northern Gaming Blue on The Pursuit of Lusttheir win at the World of Warcraft European Regional Championship -- could the Fast & Furiousstar be eyeing a leap into esports?
Diesel posted to his 27.4 million Instagram followers this big smile and bigger pat on the back on Sunday, shortly after Northern Gaming Blue's victory over Toxic Youth:
Could Diesel be the next Steve Aoki, Magic Johnson or Alex Rodriguez -- celebs who are gobbling up ownership stakes in esports teams?
Diesel is no stranger to gaming -- especially World of Warcraft -- having uploaded a Facebook video back in 2014 of him and (who's believed to be) the late Paul Walker playing together:
The 49-year-old actor has invested his own money into movies and even started his own gaming company in 2002, Tigon Studios, which produced Diesel's Riddickgame, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay.
NG Blue had a close call with Toxic Youth in the WoW Arena European Championship but ultimately ended up claiming the $50,000 grand prize and securing their spot at BlizzCon for the $250,000 prize pool.
They can now move on to the World of Warcraft Arena World Championship on October 28 in Anaheim, California -- just a short ride down from Diesel's home in Los Angeles. Will we see that big smile there?
