"And then Kendall Jenner comes up to a police officer and lesbian teen sex videosgives him a Pepsi, everybody celebrates, and ... no? Are you surethat's tone-deaf?"
Yeah. We're sure. We're all very sure.
SEE ALSO: Pepsi pulls cringeworthy Kendall Jenner ad after massive backlashIn a digital short at the top of Saturday Night Live, Beck Bennett plays the one person -- the ONLY person -- who was clearly notso sure that Kendall Jenner's Pepsi commercial was going to be a total catastrophe.
Bennett (below) is ostensibly the director of the absurdly, jaw-droppingly off-target ad that came late last week. In the clip, he speaks with a series of people on his cell phone just minutes before it's time to shoot.
"No, we're celebratingthe cultures -- everybody celebrates!" he pleads.
But it doesn't matter how he tries to justify it, whoever's on the other line (see: ALL OF US) won't give him the vote of confidence he's after.
"Oh. Got it. Just kind of using them to sell soda? Got it."
Whoever he speaks with, it's clear: This idea is not going to fly.
"Hey could you maybe put a neighbor on the phone? A black one?" he asks.
And once again, not getting what he wants.
"So the whole thing is kind of an homage to the Black Lives Matter movement ... don't even touch it?"
Problem is, the shoot is about to begin; cameras are literally rolling.
This trainwreck is too far down the tracks to stop.
And here comes the talent.
"I stop the police from shooting black people by handing them a Pepsi.
"I know, it's cute, right?"
