We've all been there: you go on Beauty Salon Special Service 4a trip, spend hours snapping the most Insat-worthy pics you can, and then realize there's no way you can post them all without annoying the crap out all your followers.
Lonely Planet's new Trips app might be able to help.
SEE ALSO: I know, I know ... I'm using Instagram all wrong and I don't careTrips lets you make collections of photos that you can annotate with maps and text about your travels. There are social elements -- you can follow people and "like" what they post -- but it's not really another social network in the traditional sense.
Instead, it's a place where you can post your favorite vacation photos for fellow travelers who actually want to see them IRL (you can choose to share your photos privately, too, with only people you know if you prefer).
Lonely Planet is obviously known for its guidebooks, and while Trips isn't meant to be a full-on travel guide, you'll find that the app quickly becomes a source of inspiration for future trips. The company has tapped its writers and editors to curate collections of trips from the app's top users, too -- many of whom write detailed accounts of their travels, along with their photos.
All this makes for the perfect blend of drool-worthy #vacationgoals-in-the-making travel pics and a handy Instagram alternative when your friends are tired of seeing a bazillion shots from your last trip.
The app is out now for iOS; the company says an Android version is coming later this year.
