The remaining qualifying teams are not much a surprise, considering those teams are home to some top competitive Overwatchplayers.
Starting in BlizzCon's opening week, teams will compete in round-robin group stages followed by a single elimination bracket to be crowned the best country in the world. The opening week starts Oct. 29 and BlizzCon weekend is Nov. 4-5.
Unlike most esports tournaments, the teams in the OverwatchWorld Cup were formed by voting from the Overwatchcommunity, who voted in four of six players for each team. The player who received the most votes was designated as captain and chose the remaining two players.
Some teams are stacked with top, pro Overwatchplayers like the U.S., Sweden and China, while others feature popular streamers who aren't necessarily the best players, like Brazil.
All 16 qualifying teams will be receiving a free trip to BlizzCon plus an "appearance bonus," which Blizzard has not released any specifics about. There is no prize pool for the OverwatchWorld Cup.
